Transcanada Exec: Pipeline Project to Have $31.9b Impact On Oklahoma's Economy

A $12 billion oil pipeline has taken its first step across the Oklahoma state line and is starting its second step toward the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way, it is expected to make a $31.9 billion overall impact on the state's economy and create more than 14,000 man-hours of employment.

"It's one of the biggest pipelines in a generation," said Jim Prescott, spokesman for TransCanada, the Canadian oil company that is building the 36-inch line.
