Terrill Plans to Attempt Immigration Amendment in Oklahoma

Summary

State Rep. Randy Terrill said Monday he will try again to pass legislation dealing with illegal immigration. Terrill said he plans to add language from his failed immigration bill to another measure to be considered today.

House Bill 3119, authored by Terrill, R-Moore, would have required employees of state and local governments to report the names and addresses of suspected illegal aliens to federal immigration authorities. Though illegal immigrants would not be denied emergency medical services, HB 3119 would require anyone applying for government services - such as food stamps or enrolling their child in public schools - to provide proof of their citizenship or be reported to the federal government.
