Task Force Members Divided On Privatizing Compsource Oklahoma

Summary


A task force wrapped up its meetings Thursday on privatizing CompSource Oklahoma, the state workers' compensation insurance entity, with five of its eight members favoring turning CompSource into a mutual company owned by its policyholders.

Co-chairman Daniel Sullivan, R-Tulsa, is one of three members who want the Oklahoma Supreme Court to determine whether CompSource is owned by the state. Sullivan believes it is. If that turns out to be the case, he said he would hesitate to mutualize a state asset that could be worth about $300 million if sold to a private insurance company.
