Les Gilliam, a 41-year veteran of Val Gene's Restaurants, received the Oklahoma Restaurant Association top award, the Distinguished Service Award, at the association's sixth annual Hirst Hospitality Awards.
Receiving the Distinguished Hospitality Award during the Tuesday night ceremony at the Petroleum Club were Jeff Davis, Arby's; Nick Sidorakis, Southern Hills Country Club; and Jim Vallion, Val Gene's. The association also honored 110 of Oklahoma's Best of the Best foodservice employees from restaurants across the state, and gave out more than $5,000 in donated cash and door prizes. It raised more than $28,700 in scholarships for hospitality students at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Okmulgee, in support of the Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation.See the full content of this document
