U of Ok Professor Receives National Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award

Summary


Mark Stratton, a professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, is the 2004 recipient of the national Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award from the Commission for the Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy and Aztra/Zeneca. In addition to his teaching, Stratton travels the state helping senior Oklahomans learn about their prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. He has also produced a video that has been distributed to all senior centers in Oklahoma.

In addition to a sculpture designed for Stratton by William Simonson, the commission also presented a $2,500 contribution to the OU College of Pharmacy in Stratton's name. Stratton was also given a trip to San Francisco to accept the award during the 35th annual meeting of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
