Oklahoma City Community College had 1,042 students when it opened on Sept. 25, 1972.

As OCCC celebrates its 35th anniversary today, enrollment has grown to 19,500 students - the fifth-largest higher education institution in Oklahoma - and Paul W. Sechrist, OCCC president, has plans for the school to play an increasingly important role in the community.
