Corporation commissioners heard arguments regarding U.S. Cellular's application to expand its mobile phone service throughout rural Oklahoma Friday, but withheld a final decision until possibly as late as August.

Attorneys representing U.S. Cellular and several smaller communications companies presented their positions regarding a recommendation by an administrative law judge to grant only part of U.S. Cellular's request to use money from the Universal Service Fund. The approved amount would allow the company to spend up to $8 million in cell tower construction, but U.S. Cellular is seeking access to $9 million more.
