A 17-year-old kid walks into a convenience store and buys low- point beer right in front of an agent of the state Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission. Can the agent arrest the retailer? Yes - but not for the obvious reason, according to an opinion issued by Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson.

The Oklahoma Constitution prohibits Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement (ABLE) Commission officers from enforcing laws regarding low-point beer. The current legal situation thus requires ABLE Commission officers to use some creativity in addressing even a blatant violation of the law committed in their presence, Edmondson found.
