A study of the possibility of building a NASCAR track in Oklahoma was derailed before the waving of the checkered flag Thursday as state Rep. Joe Dorman, D-Rush Springs, told members of the House Tourism and Recreation Subcommittee he didn't see the project getting out of the starting gate.

Dorman said he had hoped to review the possibility of having a NASCAR track built somewhere in Oklahoma as a way to build on the success of Oklahoma's last venture into the professional sporting arena - the temporary relocation of the New Orleans Hornets.
