General Motors officials did not accept Oklahoma's eye-popping proposal to keep the company's Oklahoma City plant in operation, Gov. Brad Henry announced Wednesday. But the effort may have a positive effect on other businesses seeking to expand or relocate in Oklahoma, Henry said.
GM officials did make the trip from Michigan to Oklahoma to meet with the governor on Wednesday. And though state Treasurer Scott Meacham, state Rep. Richard Morrissette, D-Oklahoma City and UAW 1999 Treasurer Judy Calhoun had come up with a plan they said would save GM $100,000 a year for five years, GM still intends to idle the plant next week.See the full content of this document
