Ok Legislator Wants to Increase Penalty for Crimes Against the Elderly

Summary


House Bill 2713 by state Rep. Mike Shelton would amend the Elderly and Incapacitated Victim's Protection Act to increase the penalty for crimes against the elderly from a minimum of 30 days in jail to 90 days.

So often our elderly are targeted by opportunistic criminals because they are so easily taken advantage of, said Shelton, D- Oklahoma City. All crime is reprehensible, but crimes against the most vulnerable in our society are completely despicable and cowardly, and I believe we should be doing everything we can to deter this behavior.
