Summary


Markets were in freefall last week as countries around the globe tried to shore up faltering banks and stem the fear of a deepening economic crisis. Each day stocks fluctuated wildly as rate cuts and a worldwide infusion of cash seemed to have little effect and credit markets seized up.

As our session ended Friday, stocks moderated from their intense downward plunge and ended mixed for the day, although it was the worst week on record for both the Dow industrials and the S&P 500.
