Gov. Brad Henry downplayed the likelihood of budget cuts for government agencies this year - though he did not rule out the possibility - after the state Board of Equalization on Monday certified a $5.8 billion revenue estimate for fiscal 2006.
The estimate projects significant increases in General Revenue Fund collections and anticipates receiving revenues from the newly approved state lottery by autumn 2005. With such revenue increases, the state would be able to afford pay increases for teachers and state employees promised during the last legislative session.See the full content of this document
