Project Elf in Tulsa Aims to Provide Basics Without Fanfare
Terri Hozhabri watched a car pull up in her driveway. Moments later four sacks were on her front porch signaling one thing: An elf was there. Hozhabri and Laurie Tilley started the nonprofit Project Elf to provide the basics for school children and strengthen the foundation of the community.
Permanent Director Named for Oklahoma State Criminal Justice Information Agency
The roller coaster ride that comes with the territory of being the director of the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Resource Center will have the same passenger for the time being as Christopher Hill was approved to become the permanent director. The Oklahoma Sentencing Commission, the advisory board for OCJRC, voted unanimously to accept an offer by Hill to be approved as the permanent director.
Canadian County Judge Appointed by Oklahoma Governor
Bobby Wayne Hughey of El Reno has been appointed associate district judge in Canadian County by Gov. Brad Henry. Hughey graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1985. He has been employed in private practice since 1991. Hughey has also served Canadian County as a guardian ad litem in child custody and visitation disputes and been involved in the Canadian County drug court program.
He wore the familiar purple suit and green wig, but he was no joke to workers at a Three Rivers, Mich., theater. Police arrived at the theater early Sunday to find employees restraining Spencer Taylor, 20, disguised as Batman's nemesis, The Joker, in The Dark Night.
Lawsuit Against Animal Rights Group Dismissed
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against an animal rights group that persuaded rock band Matchbox Twenty to pull out of its scheduled concert at this year's Cheyenne Frontier Days. U.S. District Judge William Downes ruled in a telephone hearing that the lawsuit by Romeo Entertainment Group Inc., based in Omaha, Neb., was not filed in the correct state, according to court records.

Oklahoma City-Based Tronox Reports Net Loss for Quarter
Tronox Inc. on Tuesday reported a net loss for the second quarter of $34.4 million, or 84 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $21.2 million, or 52 cents per share, for the second quarter of 2007. The Oklahoma City-based producer of titanium dioxide pigment reported a loss for the quarter from continuing operations of $29.9 million, or 73 cents per share, compared with a loss from continuing operations of $20 million or 49 cents per share, a year earlier.
Careertech Conference Moves to Oklahoma City
Nearly 4,000 CareerTech educators, administrators and staff are expected to attend the 41st annual CareerTech Summer Conference Monday-Wednesday at the Cox Business Services Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Jma Energy Wins Appeal of Lawsuit Against Okc-Based Chesapeake Energy
Robert D. McCutcheon, vice president and general counsel for JMA Energy Company LLC, is happier now than he was a year ago. In June 2007, the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals ruled JMA was not entitled to prejudgment interest in its lawsuit against Chesapeake Energy because the case had been settled out of court. But the case had not been settled out of court.
First National Center Barber Shop in Downtown Okc Reopened with Simplicity in Mind
Much of the leaseable space in the First National Center can be outfitted for a tenant's needs, but one space on the 14th floor could hardly be anything but a barber shop. Since the First National tower was built in 1931, a 929-square- foot space looking east has been a barber shop, where the art-deco decor has changed little in nearly 80 years.
