Midwest City H.M.A. Inc. has purchased the old Target store and the land it rests on at Reno Avenue and Midwest Boulevard in Midwest City for $2.5 million, said Doug Arnold, chief executive officer of Midwest Regional Medical Center. Paul Dougherty, CEO of Deaconess Hospital, is resigning effective April 14 to assume the position of CEO of Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Local Gas Prices On the Rise: Oklahoma No Longer has Edge Over Others
Oklahoma's gas prices are normally far less than the national average, but that gap has decreased this week. The national average for regular unleaded is $2.39, barely above Oklahoma's statewide average, which reached $2.35 Thursday. Locally and statewide, the price has risen at a much faster rate than in many other parts of the country.
Economic Club of Oklahoma Plans Dinner Meeting
Lane Riggs, vice president of optimization planning and economics for Valero Energy Corp., will be the speaker for the Economic Club of Oklahoma's dinner meeting on Monday at the Petroleum Club in downtown Oklahoma City. Officials Unveil $350 Million Lake Texoma Private Development Deal
A Connecticut firm is expected to invest up to $350 million in a new private development effort aimed at revitalizing Lake Texoma State Lodge and Park with a new lodge, golf course, walking trails, restaurants and residential developments, state officials announced Thursday. Under the terms of the proposed deal, Gagne Development Co. Inc. will buy 750 acres, including the old lodge and property at Chickasaw Pointe.

Truck Load Limit Bill Approved by Ok House
Legislation designed to streamline the process to obtain permits for oversized loads has been approved in the House by an 89-8 vote. House Bill 2822, by state Rep. Dale DeWitt, would automate the permit process for trucks hauling large loads. DeWitt said the bill will aid economic activity in rural Oklahoma.
Mcfarlin Building Headed for Redevelopment: Plans for the 1920 Downtown Tulsa Gem Unclear
A pair of investors is spearheading the rejuvenation of the historic McFarlin Building in downtown Tulsa. According to court records, John Snyder and Dale Forrest, managers of McFarlin Building LLC, have taken out a $1.6 million loan for the project, but it's unclear what their plans are for the building.
Ok House Passes Income Tax Cut, Estate Tax Elimination
Arguments over tax cuts and credits in the state House on Thursday led to debate over the financial gulf between rich and poor. Key to the often emotional debate was House Bill 3124, by House Speaker Todd Hiett, R-Kellyville, which would reduce Oklahoma's top individual income tax rate from 6.25 percent to 5.85 percent.
Tulsa-Based Webco Earnings Decline Sharply
Webco Industries on Thursday reported sharply lower earnings for the second fiscal quarter ended Jan. 31 as the Tulsa-based company faced volatile steel prices. Net income for the quarter totaled $684,000, or 90 cents per diluted share, down from $4.4 million, or $5.93 per diluted share, for the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Las Vegas-Based Lexington Resources Plans Drilling in Oklahoma
Lexington Resources Inc. and its Arkoma Basin exploration partner, Dylan Peyton LLC, have announced plans to jointly develop coal bed methane leases in Oklahoma. Two drilling rigs are scheduled to begin drilling next week on South Lamar leases.

Gov. Henry Approves $16 Million in Centennial Funding
Gov. Brad Henry signed legislation Thursday appropriating $16 million to the Oklahoma Centennial Commission to help fund projects planned for the state's 100th birthday celebration next year. Funding in Senate Bill 1193 will be split three ways, with $4 million each for projects in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, and $8 million for projects in other communities.
