Public Relations Society of America, Okc Chapter Chosen to Take Part in Program
The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has been chosen as one of four PRSA chapters from across the country to take part in the PRSA Foundation Career Exploration Program during the 2005-2006 school year. The California Capital, Houston and New York City PRSA chapters will also participate, said Sam Sims, president of the Oklahoma City chapter.
Tulsa-Based Arena Resources Buys Rig
Arena Resources Inc. has purchased a drilling rig for $1.5 million. The rig will be used as a second rig on the Tulsa-based company's Fuhrman-Mascho leases in Andrews County, Texas. The rig is currently being refurbished and will be capable of drilling to a depth of 9,000 feet.
Broken Arrow-Based Addvantage Extends Agreement
Tulsat, a subsidiary of ADDvantage Technologies Group, has signed a three-year extension for its domestic distributor agreement with Scientific-Atlanta. Under the terms of the agreement, Tulsat will continue to be the exclusive distributor for select Scientific-Atlanta headend and transmission products for U.S. customers through Jan. 15, 2009.
Bethany-Based Southern Nazarene University to Create Wireless Campus
Southern Nazarene University plans to create a wireless campus. The SNU WiFi world will make wireless laptops available to incoming freshmen students next fall, said Patrick Allen, SNU provost.

University of Central Oklahoma Gains Title of Official Paralympic, Olympic Training Site
The University of Central Oklahoma gained a new title on Monday evening: official Olympic and Paralympic training site. Officials from the United States Olympic Committee and the university made the announcement at Braum's Ice Rink at the Oklahoma Civic Center. Olympic pairs' figure skater Jenni Meno, without partner Todd Sand, performed a skating presentation.
Kansas City, Mo.-Based Umb Financial Corp. Approved As Lender for Small Business Program
UMB Financial Corp. has been authorized by the United States Small Business Administration as an official lender for the SBAExpress program. UMB's 140 banking centers include four in the Oklahoma City area and one in Tulsa. UMB, based in Kansas City, Mo., also has banking centers in Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska, in addition to a loan production office in Arizona.

The Oklahoma Bankers Association is receiving reports from across the state of scams that seem to be initiated from a single source, with potentially a large number of callers and phone lines at their disposal. Bank customers - often senior citizens - are receiving calls that state the caller is with their bank without actually naming the bank.

Biodiesel Fuel Production in Northeast Oklahoma a First for State
A new company in northeast Oklahoma has begun the first commercial production of biodiesel fuel in Oklahoma. Green County Bio Diesel Inc. currently has the capacity to produce 750,000 gallons of biodiesel per year, said David Allen, who owns the company with Scott Williams.

Favorable Job Market Expected for Tulsa, Oklahoma City
Tulsa and Oklahoma City employers expect to hire at a steady pace during the first quarter of 2006, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. From January to March, 31 percent of the companies in Tulsa plan to hire more employees. Only 10 percent of Tulsa area employers plan to cut employees during the quarter, according to the Manpower survey.
New Owner Aims to Revitalize Old Luby's Restaurant in Okc
Oklahoma City-based Industrial Realty Group LLC bought the former Luby's Restaurant at 7004 S. Interstate 35 Service Road from Luby's Restaurant LP in Houston for $900,000. The 11,500-square-feet, free-standing cafeteria restaurant built in 1988 is near Crossroads Mall on 1.8 acres.
