Another Oklahoma tribal government threw its support behind a ballot question to allow the state to enter compacts with tribes on casino gambling issues, reducing regulatory hassles for the casinos while giving the state a share of the profit. Ok Economic Development Council Names 2004 Volunteer of the Year

The Oklahoma Economic Development Council named Edmond resident Bill Stearns its 2004 Volunteer of the Year for his involvement in the Guthrie/Edmond Regional Airport. Council officials attributed that airport's establishment in June to Sterns' efforts, his love for both communities, commitment to regional economic development and his military experience as a congressional liaison.
